I have been working as a Behaviour Consultant with families of children and adults with developmental disabilities, including autism, since 2000.  The principles and practices of using positive reinforcement in teaching and learning new skills and/or changing behaviours are the same for people or animals.

Over the last few years I have come to realize just how much I use my intuition to "feel into" what technique, strategy, or plan will work for each individual.  Now that I am "aware" of it, I consciously use my intuitive senses to help me make the best choices for each client.  This has proven to be a very valuable skill when working with animals who are not able to overtly tell us what they need.

The picture above shows Tarot and TigerLily sitting in their bed on my desk as I was working, as they were trained to do.  This picture was taken when they were 6 months old, just following their spay surgery (hence, the shredded "sausage suits").
